The Choir

Besides music choir action teaches to singers other skills that are useful in life, such as social intercourse and perseverance. In addition to weekly rehearsals the work is completed by weekend camps and rehearsals when necessary. Due to this the singers learn already young to work disciplined. Exactingness of working in boys' choir adds with the years several times changing register, which leads the singer from boy's voices to man's voices (in worst cases to basses).

One of the most important tasks of boys' choir action is to raise real men (or tenors) from boys and from it's part to guide to musical way of thinking, in other words to be all-round educational hobby. It acts also as a spur to continue music hobby through life and has given several singers a good basis to move on to music's professionals. The work of a choir singer is ofter quite everyday toiling, which, however, constantly repays the worker. As in all hobbies, support of the family is important. Mothers and fathers of the singers take an active part in practical action of the choir.

As highlights of action of the choir can be considered performances and especially journeys abroad. For experienced singers the recording is surely the greatest challenge. The repertoire has in the course of years grown more versatile and difficult. In the fifties various folk songs were typical repertoire. Today traditional church music in a foreing language froms a great deal of the repertoire, though it includes also newer music.
